Why grow vegetables at home?
By growing your own vegetables you have control over the inputs. You can grow your vegetables organically with the satisfaction of knowing that there are no unwanted chemicals entering your body from conventionally grown vegetables. As well as this, growing vegetables is a satisfying past time that the whole family can be involved with.

How much space do I need to grow vegetables at home?
Vegetables can be grown on any scale, manageable for the individual. We can give advice on growing vegetables in the smallest of courtyards, through to the biggest backyard. We will help you grow whatever vegetables you require.

How much effort is required to successfully grow vegetables?
The effort required to grow vegetables will vary on the types grown. Initially there is the need for appropriate soil preparation. This may be through the inclusion of organic materials such as compost, manure and mulch to improve soil structure and fertility. After planting your seedlings, (or seed), one of the biggest commitment will be to watering. Plants will also need to be monitored for nutrition and pest controls needs too, but we can help you here with our fortnightly maintenance service. We will help to identify any issues you may have and help to overcome them successfully.

Do you provide a construction service for the veggie beds?
If you require us to build the veggies beds, we will discuss your needs with you and provide a quote for this service on a site by site basis.

Do I need to have raised beds for my veggie garden?
No you don’t. There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods. The cheaper option is to go straight into the ground, but this isn’t always a viable option, especially where soil quality and drainage may be an issue.

I rent, is there any way I can take my garden with me after my lease ends?
Our wine barrel gardens are a great option for renters, they are on wheels making their transportation much easier.

I already have an existing garden bed which hasn’t been used for a few years, can you get it going again?
Yes we can. We are able to top up your soil with compost and fertilisers, dig it over and replant it already for productivity again.

Do you use organic garden maintenance methods?
Where possible we will manage your pests, diseases and weeds by organic methods. Before we commence the fortnightly maintenance service we will discuss your needs, if you want your garden to be fully organic we will only use fully organic management options.

How far will you travel?
We are based at Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills. We will travel throughout the Hills and metropolitan Adelaide, as part of the consultation cost. If you live out of these areas, contact us for an estimate on the travel costs to your location.
